503 Erorr when running 'yum update' on 9.4 ppc64le

Hi,

I’ve installed AlmaLinux 9.4 on an IBM AC922 (ppc64le artchitecture). When attemting to run a ‘yum update’ to bring the OS up to date, yum returns 503 errors:

[root@sulaco emergency]# yum update
AlmaLinux 9 - AppStream 3.7 kB/s | 1.9 kB 00:00
Errors during downloading metadata for repository ‘appstream’:

(All other mirros failed - the fourm software wouldn’t let me post more than 2 URLS).

Error: Failed to download metadata for repo ‘appstream’: Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried

Running ‘dnf update’ results in the same outcome.

I can ping google.com without any issues:

Any help would be much appreciated.

I can access that file now and it shows “Last modified” 2024-11-06 14:55

Could it be that all the mirrors near you were in the process of update or sync at that moment? (The ‘503’ is for “server is down for maintenance or overloaded”.)

Thanks for your reply. Apolgoes for my slow response, as I’ve been away for a few days. Talking to our network guys, it was an additional firewall ACL needed for the network that the machine sits on. After thay made the changes to their firewall, all is working well and I’ve just brought the machine up to date.
