Hello all,
Would like to see if someone has encountered or knows why the terminal or software applications hang when Alma 9.7 cannot reach a network. I am having this issue whenever I lose connection to a network. For example, I have a LAN in the 192.168.0..0/24 network and a connection to the 192.168.1.0/24 network. If I physically remove the connection to the 192.168.1.0/24 network, the software applications will hang. On the terminal, any command issued will freeze and if I try to cancel the command, the terminal will still be stuck. If there are any software applications running where data is physically changing then it will continue to change but the application will not close if the close button is clicked on. Another example would be with NFS mounts. If I have NFS mounts in my 192.168.0.0/24 LAN network, I then switch to a Wi-Fi connection without first stopping the mounts service, the computer will hang until it can react to the disconnection of the LAN network. I did run journalctl for all logs messages, enabled debugging for Network Manager messages, and dmesg messages while I troubleshot the issue but none populated messages of failure or something wrong. The only thing I did notice when running System monitor and Wireshark is that at the moment of the hang, System monitor would have a constant network traffic and Wireshark would have a constant flow of ARP messages to the disconnected LAN network. System comes back to normal when it is in constant contact with configured networks or turn off the ethernet adapter.
Thanks in advance!
