AlmaLinux 10 x86_64_v2 agetty segfault

Hi,

Thanks for creating 10 x86_64_v2! It’s much appreciated that I can continue to use an old server for a bit longer instead of adding it to e-waste.

I installed AlmaLinux 10 x86_64_v2 on a Dell PowerEdge R620 server with 2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2640 0 @ 2.50GHz Sandybridge cpus and when it boots I see the following segfault in dmesg:

[ 18.595133] agetty[773]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f2296bf53b0 sp 00007ffcf642ad68 error 4 in libc.so.6[18e3b0,7f2296a8f000+16d000] likely on CPU 0 (core 0, socket 0)
[ 18.595223] Code: d2 0f 84 b7 0f 00 00 48 83 fa 01 0f 84 b9 0f 00 00 49 89 d3 89 f1 89 f8 48 83 e1 3f 48 83 e0 3f 83 f9 30 77 45 83 f8 30 77 40 0f 6f 0f f3 0f 6f 16 66 0f ef c0 66 0f 74 c1 66 0f 74 ca 66 0f

I can still login so I guess that segfault could not get agetty (35 years old or so?) to give up

Anyone seen this? Any solution or pending update? Thanks!

Best, Patrick

The patch has already been merged into CentOS Stream, so it should eventually be fixed in AlmaLinux as well.

Thanks pastalian. Case closed.
