AlmaLinux 9.8 last update breaks Eclipse IDE and Eclipse Installer.

Temporary fix : downgrade webkit2gtk3.

No problem with AlmaLinux 10

This looks like a possible regression in the latest webkit2gtk3 update for AlmaLinux 9.8.

Could you please provide the output of:

rpm -q webkit2gtk3 webkit2gtk3-jsc

Also, please let us know which Eclipse version you are using.

Checked with Eclipse CDT 2026-06 and 2026-09. Eclipse Installer and IDE Help->Welcome, Help->Eclipse Marketplace and other menu run fine with :

webkit2gtk3-2.52.5-1.el9_8.x86_64
webkit2gtk3-jsc-2.52.5-1.el9_8.x86_64

They fail with :

webkit2gtk3-2.54.0-1.el9_8.x86_64
webkit2gtk3-jsc-2.54.0-1.el9_8.x86_64

Thanks for the additional information.

The same webkit2gtk3 2.54.0 package is also available in CentOS Stream 9.

I attempted to reproduce the issue there, but my test system is headless, so I could not complete the Eclipse GUI test.

According to the Red Hat Jira ticket, the fix is planned for release with RHEL 9.9.

Therefore, the corresponding fix is expected to be included in AlmaLinux 9.9 as well.
