Dnf update fails with 503 error

Have around 10 hosts that now fail to update, 503 error

You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'.
Error: Error downloading packages:
  Status code: 503 for https://mirrors.almalinux.org/mirrorlist/8/baseos (IP: xxx.xx.xx.xx)
[root@myhost ~]# dnf update
Last metadata expiration check: 4:31:05 ago on Tue 18 Jan 2022 04:34:08 AM CST.

They connect via proxy and they all worked fine on Friday, my Redhat hosts connect to RHN via the same proxies and they are updating fine.

Is there some issue ongoing at the moment?

Hmm, starting working again a few minutes ago, didn’t work for around 5 mins or so.

I feel a nagios check coming on… :slight_smile:

I believe this was due to some scaling issues with the mirror service which hopefully should be resolved at this time.
