Glxinfo/glxgears acts abnormal after qt5-devel installed on almalinux9.0

hi

I got the error on almalinux 9.0 with xxdiff 5.1 (qt5-devel is must) installed.

And no this error on another 9.6 also with qt5-devel installed.

qt5-devel installed with 214 packages upgrading ,there must be some mismatch with those un-upgrading .But I can not figure it out.

Did anyone meet this? Thanks in advance

I couldn’t find any relevant documentation, but
according to the above website, if you get a “couldn’t find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig” error,
it is likely due to incompatibility or corruption of packages or drivers, so it seems best to
reinstall all related packages.

Perhaps the mismatch is between mesa and libdrm. What if you update libdrm as well?

The qt5-devel does not look like something that would affect the X11 and OpenGL.

You said that other packages did upgrade. That implies that they had not been upgraded earlier and that the issue is with them (rather than the qt5-devel).

I would use ‘undo’ of ‘dnf history’ to go back (if possible) and update packages in smaller groups until I find what breaks the GL.

hi all above

Thanks for your information. The root cause should be the mismatch updated package while qt5-devel installing with repo 9.6

I try on another almalinux 9.0 and the yum repo is almalinux-vault/9.0 .
Both xxdiff and glxinfo/glxgears are all ok.

As I mentioned earlier, if you only update Mesa (which happens when you install qt5-devel) on AL 9.0 without also updating libdrm, it will break the graphics stacks.
