How to scan and repair missing or corrupted system files?

Hi Almalinux Team,

I am a newbie here. I manage a server that is using alma OS. We don’t know how to scan and repair missing or corrupted system files without losing any data on the system?

Actually, our server has some OS issues as this stop responding in every 7-10 days. When this stop responding nothing accessible at the server, not even SSH to the server. To restore the services, we have to restart machine using machine provider panel.

Therefore, I am looking for commands that can help me find and repair missing or corrupted system (OS) files.

Please help…

Hi,

For future post please supply more information like:
OS version
Hardware or virtual
Custom Software

To repair an broken Linux or to recover data a USB loaded with an live image can be helpful.
Or the emergency boot.

to repair an XFS mount use xfs_repair : xfs_repair(8) - Linux manual page

I have never needed to repair a Linux system.
But if the file system can be repaired or accessed with a live image or connecting a disk to a USB to SATA controller. Consider recovering the log files. They could give information on why the system stopped working.
