For what it’s worth, though I use a Brother laser, I’ve found it easier to do a network connection, rather than USB. As you don’t give the printer, I’m just going to assume it is possible to connect via network. If it is, I’m going to spam my own page Scanning and Printing from CLI. The advantage is that you don’t need a specific HP driver, the disadvantage is (well, if the printer can’t be networked, it won’t work) that you may lose whatever advantages you have from specific HP drivers.

my almalinux is a print server for a usb printer, if the printer was a network printer there would be no need for a server.
