Problem with installed package gdk-pixbuf2-xlib-2.36.12-6.el8_10.x86_64 during dnf update

I see this issue is also on RockyLinux. Probably from someone who upgraded from Centos7 like me.

dnf clean all didn’t solve for me.

This is the error.

Error: 
 Problem: package gdk-pixbuf2-xlib-2.36.12-6.el8_10.x86_64 from @System requires gdk-pixbuf2(x86-64) = 2.36.12-6.el8_10, but none of the providers can be installed

The required package is located in the PowerTools repository, which is currently disabled.
Please try enabling it with the following steps:

sudo dnf config-manager --set-enabled powertools
sudo dnf clean all
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
sudo dnf update gdk-pixbuf2 gdk-pixbuf2-xlib
sudo dnf -y update

upgraded from Centos7 like me.

CentOS 7 had packages gdk-pixbuf2, gdk-pixbuf2-devel, and gdk-pixbuf2-tests. In its ‘base’ repo.

AlmaLinux 8 has:

That is, packages gdk-pixbuf2, gdk-pixbuf2-modules, gdk-pixbuf2-devel, gdk-pixbuf2-xlib, and gdk-pixbuf2-xlib-devel.
Note how they are split into three AlmaLinux repos: ‘baseos’, ‘appstream’, and ‘powertools’.
Note also that dnf shows the repo from which the installed packages are from.

Note also that

dnf history list gdk-pixbuf2-xlib

should list the transactions that did involve the gdk-pixbuf2-xlib.
One can also show info about particular transaction, e.g.:
dnf history info 7
and the output includes repo for package.

CentOS 7 packages were not one-to-one with AlmaLinux 8, so the distro conversion must have done something “clever”, or the gdk-pixbuf2-xlib got added later. Either way, the powertools repo must have been accessible (i.e. enabled) at least for the install.

Why it was no longer enabled? You know your system.
