QXL support in current and future Alma releases

Hello everyone!

I see that my wishes for a SPICE “revival” came true, however one user pointed out that QXL is missing. I understand that the two are not necessarily related, but would it be possible to reintroduce that too? I assume one may use VGA or VirtIO, however I apparently seem to get more bang for my buck with QXL, even though it should not be accelerated (mind you, not on AlmaLinux, as my installs all moved to AL9 which doesn’t support SPICE/QXL).

Hopefully that does not introduce too much effort to bring back.

Hi there! This should get brought to our ALESCo for attention/consideration. Right now, the best way to do that is to either ask in the ~alesco room on chat.almalinux.org or to open an RFC on GitHub - AlmaLinux/ALESCo. Thanks!

Must’ve missed the notification, but I also saw you pinging people in that room, so it probably got some attention and may be evaluated.
