Release Support for Alma 8

The release notes page, says that “Version 8 will have active support until 31 May 2024, and security support until 31 May 2029”. But Alma 8.10 has just been released in beta & RHEL 8.10 page says that RHEL 8.10 will have minor releases till 2029.

We’ve been recommending Alma 8 to our customers and would like to clarify the support timeline for Alma 8. Can you provide details on how long Alma 8 will be supported?

Does it? RHEL 8 is in “Maintenance Support Phase” from now to 2029. That is:

During the Maintenance Support Phase for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 8, Red Hat defined Critical and Important impact Security Advisories (RHSAs) and selected (at Red Hat discretion) Urgent Priority Bug Fix Advisories (RHBAs) will be released as they become available. Other errata advisories may be delivered as appropriate.

If you call that “minor releases”, fine.

It is a goal of AlmaLinux 8 to remain compatible with RHEL 9^H 8 up to 2029.

[EDIT]8, not 9.
