Hi,
Sometimes Red Hat makes questionable decisions, and here’s one of them:
gdisk
has been deprecated from theboot.iso
image type.
I’ve been working as a Linux trainer since 2007, using mainly RHEL clones for my work: CentOS, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, etc. I’ve stumbled over Alma Linux recently, and I must say I like the approach of not necessarily being bug-for-bug compatible, but to iron out the unnerving stuff while remaining generally RHEL-compatible. Integrating SPICE support or extending hardware support is just an example. So I guess I’ll move all my stuff to Alma Linux in the very near future.
So I thought I’d ask here. Is there any way to integrate gdisk
again in the ISOs? I can see no practical reason behind this move other than to considerably irritate seasoned sysadmins who use this partitioning tool in their daily work. Not to mention Linux trainers who base their courses on partitioning tools like fdisk
and gdisk
.
Cheers from the sunny South of France,
Niki
