I’m currently using AlmaLinux 8.10.
Sometimes when pressing the keyboard arrow keys in gnome-terminal, the output will suddenly change to English capital ABCD.
When I press the up key I see a capital A in the terminal and the down key I see a capital B.
When this happens, even closing and reopening a new gnome-terminal cannot solve the problem. You can only restart the system.
I have a similar problem with alt-b and alt-f in tmux getting turned into D and C when I haven’t installed updated terminfo for nsterm. I imagine had I ever fully investigated I might be able to provide a more useful response, but, does running the reset command help? Unplugging and replugging your keyboard?
I generally find problems with sudden changes in the processing of keys on the keyboard in GNOME (GNOME classic) - but in AlmaLinux 9.4. So far the best I know is to end the session and log in again.
