Upgrade AlmaLinux 9 to AlmaLinux 10 x86_64-v2?

Hi,

I have about a dozen servers in a datacenter at the french provider Online/Scaleway. In their OS offer they have Rocky Linux in versions 8 and 9. Migrating these to AlmaLinux is trivial with the almalinux-deploy.sh script, and I do this on machines where I need KVM with SPICE support, for example.

The low-cost servers are x86_64-v2 only, so any x86_64-v3 RHEL clone won’t run on them. So now I wonder. Do you think it’s possible to upgrade these machines currently running AlmaLinux 9 to AlmaLinux 10 x86_64-v2 using the Elevate project scripts ?

Cheers from the sunny South of France,

Niki

Hi @microlinux!

For now, the ELevate project does not know how to upgrade to Alma10 on x86_64-v2 processors. Basically, if you have servers with such processors, you cannot use their scripts to upgrade directly from AlmaLinux 9 to 10 you have to find another way.

All the best! :crossed_fingers:

However,

I could be interested in helping contributing to the support of this case.

Just need to gather some info on where to contribute and how.

And then on feasibility depending on the design of the tool.
