WiFi Network setup help

Hey guys new to the community. Very green with Linux and honestly with computers in general. I was able to install the distro via native install by using a bootable usb. I was finally able to figure it out after trial and error. Now I have it installed and set up, I do not know how to add my WiFi network to the computer it is only saying the Ethernet cable is not connected. How do I set up my local home WiFi to this so I can get started on learning more Linux? Thank you for your time

Hi your Wifi Firmware is missing.
You need to detect the Wifi hardware and put the correct firmware in the folder “/lib/firmware”

Here is how it works:

As a beginner, you maybe should choose a different distribution.
Linux Mint or Ubuntu are great distributions.
They are not better, but they are a bit easier to set up and have great documentation for beginners.

Linux can be a great hobby but also very frustrating.

By the way, this is my favorite program for creating USB sticks:

Thank you for the response when I have time I will try it out. I am planning to install Ubuntu on my other PC. I am just kind of trying things out but you are right there might be some easier ones out there. I do like this community so far and hope to be involved in any Linux community more and more. I actually used that USB program as well. I feel like it’s better than Rufus and was easier to navigate but I could be wrong.

It sounds like you are using an old laptop with a Broadcom chip. If not, it’s the same problem with something similar. I’d start by looking up your network card and fedora drivers. It’s probably in some repository, and you won’t be able to access it because you don’t have a connection… Welcome to Linux. Please don’t stoop to Ubuntu.
